Best AI Agents for Google Ads in 2026

Updated By

Short answer

Of the 7 tools we compared, none is built to run Google Ads alone. Google's Ask Advisor (beta), Opteo Chat and Optmyzr Sidekick change your account after you approve. TrueClicks' MCP and Google's MCP server only read. PerfoAds proposes fixes you approve, and its one-click apply and rollback are in beta. Leave auto-apply off unless you check its history.

What "AI agent" means here

An AI agent is an AI that can act in your account, beyond answering questions. It might pause a campaign, add a keyword or change a budget. 2 terms come up a lot below:

  • MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a plug that lets an AI app like Claude or ChatGPT talk to another tool. Some MCPs only let the AI read your data. Others let it make changes too.
  • Auto-apply means changes go live with no one clicking yes on each one.

So the 3 questions for any AI agent are simple. What can it read? What can it change? And who says yes before a change goes live?

PerfoAds is our own tool. It gets the same format as the rest.

Google Ask Advisor and auto-apply

What the AI reads and changes. Google calls Ask Advisor "an agentic conversational experience built within Gemini capabilities." Gemini is Google's AI. You ask questions in a chat panel inside your account. It can troubleshoot problems and suggest new ads. Its example requests include "Pause my campaign" and "Update daily budget of campaign C to $10" (Google Ads Help).

Approval. You put its changes live "with your approval," says the same page. Google adds that "Ask Advisor is in beta, so there may be limitations." It "isn't available in MCC accounts," the manager accounts agencies use to run many clients.

Undo. The Ask Advisor page doesn't state an undo. Google's change history lets you "undo most types of changes that were made in the last 30 days" (Google Ads Help).

Price. It's inside Google Ads. Its help page names no fee.

Watch out for. Google sells the ads, and its AI gives the advice. Ask Advisor waits for your yes. Auto-apply doesn't (see the risk section below).

Best for. Quick questions about your own account, if Google has turned it on for you.

Google Ads MCP server

What the AI reads and changes. Google publishes its own MCP server for developers. It "gives your AI client read-only access to live account data." Google's page is blunt: "It cannot modify bids, pause campaigns, or create new assets" (Google for Developers).

Approval and undo. Neither applies, since it can't change anything.

Price. Google's page doesn't name a price. You run the code yourself and connect your own Google Cloud project. That takes some technical setup.

Best for. Developers who want Claude or another AI app to read their Google Ads data, with zero risk of edits.

TrueClicks

What the AI reads and changes. TrueClicks has 2 AI tools. Its MCP "gives Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot the results of 150+ checks TrueClicks already ran, plus live Google, Microsoft, and Meta Ads data." TrueClicks says the MCP is "Read-only, so it can't change a thing in your accounts" (TrueClicks MCP). Its PPC AI Assistant is a separate tool. Its page doesn't say what the Assistant can change.

Approval. For the AI Assistant, "nothing changes in your account without your sign-off" (TrueClicks). A separate auto-apply feature can make the changes you set up "while you sleep," with a 30-day log of runs (TrueClicks help).

Undo. Not stated.

Price. The MCP is "Included on every plan, free plan and trials too." The free plan covers up to $50K a month in ad spend. Paid plans start at $249 a month. The AI Assistant gives each account "100 free AI credits a month."

Best for. Agencies that want AI answers across many accounts through an MCP that can't edit them.

Opteo

What the AI reads and changes. Opteo has Chat inside the app and an MCP. Opteo calls Chat "your AI co-pilot inside Opteo" (Opteo help). The MCP "connects Opteo to your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT" (Opteo help). Chat can make changes in Google Ads only. New campaigns from Chat "can be Search campaigns only for now" (Opteo help). The MCP can also change Microsoft, LinkedIn and TikTok accounts.

Approval. In Chat, "every change comes up as a confirmation card first." With the MCP, "your AI assistant asks you to confirm before it runs anything that changes your account." Then "Changes go live as soon as they're confirmed." In Claude you can also "choose to always allow it." Opteo recommends "keeping confirmations switched on" (Opteo help).

Undo. Not stated. Its Changelog keeps "a complete history of every change and action taken in an ad account through Opteo," with before and after values (Opteo help).

Price. Basic is $129 a month for 10 accounts and up to $25,000 in monthly spend (Opteo pricing). There's a 14-day free trial (Opteo).

Best for. Small teams who want to chat their way to a change and confirm every change.

PerfoAds

What the AI reads and changes. PerfoAds reads 30+ data sources from your Google Ads account. It runs 166 automatic checks, then an AI review of your biggest campaigns. Its Search Optimizer "proposes fixes such as adding a negative keyword, pausing an underperformer, or regenerating ad copy" (PerfoAds about page). A negative keyword stops your ad from showing for a search you don't want. Its Performance Max tool writes missing headlines, descriptions and search themes (words that tell Google what your buyers search for). Performance Max is Google's campaign type that runs ads across all its channels from 1 campaign. PerfoAds' AI also writes product titles from your Merchant Center feed, the product list Google uses for Shopping ads.

AI credits. Each account gets "1,000 a month per account." The plan page says they're "For AI help: ad text, campaign checks, product titles, questions" (PerfoAds plan page).

Approval. "Nothing changes in a connected account automatically." Every change waits for your yes. One-click Apply Fix is in beta and opt-in: "Approve a change and PerfoAds writes it to Google Ads for you."

Undo. In beta. Most changes PerfoAds makes can be rolled back within 30 days.

Price. $149 a month per Google Ads account, up to 10 accounts. There's no free trial.

Limits. It works with Google Ads only. You can connect 10 accounts at most.

Who built it. Pawel Wilk has 10 years in ecommerce and performance marketing. Along the way he has managed 100+ ad accounts, with millions of dollars in ad spend. Every support reply comes from him.

Best for. Online stores that want AI to find and draft fixes, and a human to approve every fix.

Adalysis

What the AI reads and changes. "Adalysis connects Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI assistants straight to your Google Ads accounts" (Adalysis). Its FAQ says most of your Adalysis data "can be accessed and managed via the MCP server" (Adalysis FAQ). Its MCP page doesn't say whether the AI can change Google Ads.

Approval. Adalysis says it "won't make any changes to your Google Ads account without your explicit permission" (Adalysis pricing). Auto-resolve rules you switch on can act alone, for example to "Automatically add poorly converting search terms as negative keywords" (Adalysis help).

Undo. For auto-resolve changes, "You can also undo the change if you prefer" (Adalysis help).

Price. $149 a month up to $50K in spend, or $126 a month yearly. The price rises with your spend.

Best for. PPC managers who want their audit data inside Claude or ChatGPT. PPC means pay per click.

Optmyzr

What the AI reads and changes. Optmyzr has 2 AI tools. Sidekick "runs inside the Optmyzr platform" and "can apply changes directly to your campaigns and settings." The MCP "can create and apply new positive and negative keywords directly to your accounts." Optmyzr adds that "Broader direct campaign changes through the MCP (beyond keyword creation) are not yet supported" (Optmyzr).

Approval. The MCP has "a mandatory preview step before anything is applied." Sidekick "shows exactly what will go live and waits for your approval before applying anything" (Optmyzr help). Optmyzr's home page promises "No changes without your approval, ever." Its Rule Engine is the exception: a scheduled rule "will automatically apply the changes" when set to do so (Optmyzr help).

Undo. Optmyzr's help center says "you can't undo changes made by optimization in Optmyzr." You revert them in Google Ads change history (Optmyzr help).

Price. The MCP is "Available on all paid Optmyzr plans." At $25K a month in spend, Essentials is $299 a month, or $209 a month billed yearly (Optmyzr pricing).

Best for. Agencies on many ad platforms that want AI inside a large toolkit.

Also seen. Adzooma names "AI-powered insights" and an ad copy tool that will "use AI to improve CTR and ad relevance" (Adzooma pricing). CTR is the share of people who click your ad after they see it. Its pricing page names no AI chat, agent or MCP.

Ryze AI calls itself "an autonomous agent for Google Ads." Its own guide says "Bids, budgets, negatives and pauses are made by the agent, and approval settings decide which ones wait for you" (Ryze AI). So check which changes wait for you before you connect it.

The risk of letting AI change your account alone

Google's own auto-apply is the clearest example. "When you turn on 'Automatically apply recommendations', the recommendations will apply regularly" (Google Ads Help). Google checks which ones qualify "on a daily basis." After that, nobody says yes to each change.

Google's page carries its own warning: "Auto-applying recommendations won't increase your budget, so continue to review the "Recommendations" page." You can see what ran in the History tab and the Change History page.

AI Max is Google's other hands-off AI. It's "an optimization layer within existing Search campaigns" that can write ad text from your site. Google says "New Search campaigns have the AI Max feature turned on by default" (Google Ads Help). Its main features "require conversion-based Smart Bidding strategies." Smart Bidding means Google sets your bids to win conversions. To switch it off, Google says to "toggle to opt out of all AI Max settings."

Paid tools have their own auto modes too. Optmyzr's scheduled rules, Adalysis auto-resolve, TrueClicks auto-apply and Opteo's Pause Spend When Over Budget can all act without a click. Opteo's setting pauses all campaigns when you hit your monthly limit (Opteo help).

The risk is a change nobody read. You may only notice it when sales drop.

A safe setup has 3 rules:

  1. Let the AI read freely. Read-only access can't break anything.
  2. Approve every write. Pick a tool where a human says yes to each change, and keep auto modes off until you trust them.
  3. Know where undo lives. In the tool, or in Google's change history for most changes from the last 30 days.

If Google already changed something, see how to turn off auto-apply recommendations.

How to pick an AI agent for Google Ads

  • You only want answers. Use a read-only MCP: Google's own server if you can code, or TrueClicks if you want it hosted.
  • You want to chat and change things. Opteo Chat, Optmyzr Sidekick and Google's Ask Advisor all ask you to approve first.
  • You run an online store. PerfoAds drafts fixes and product titles, and waits for your yes. See all Google Ads audit tools for the wider list.
  • You run an agency. Adalysis and TrueClicks allow unlimited Google Ads accounts on every plan, and Optmyzr does on Premium. Compare 2 of them in PerfoAds vs Optmyzr and PerfoAds vs TrueClicks.

FAQ

Can ChatGPT connect to my Google Ads account?

Yes, through an MCP. Opteo, Optmyzr, TrueClicks and Adalysis each offer one that works with ChatGPT or Claude. Google's own MCP server works too, but you set it up yourself. Google's and TrueClicks' are read-only.

Is it safe to let AI make changes in Google Ads?

It's safer when a human approves each change and an undo exists. Ask Advisor, Opteo, Optmyzr's MCP and PerfoAds all wait for your yes. Auto-apply, rules, auto-resolve and an MCP set to "always allow" act alone once you turn them on.

Is there a free AI assistant for Google Ads?

Google's Ask Advisor names no fee, but it's in beta and not in every account. The TrueClicks MCP is included on its free plan. PerfoAds has no free plan or trial.

Which AI agent is best for an ecommerce store?

PerfoAds is built for Shopify and other online stores. Its AI writes product titles from your Merchant Center feed and drafts fixes you approve. Optmyzr Premium also has Shopping feed tools.

Can an AI agent undo its own changes?

Some can. PerfoAds rolls back most of its changes for 30 days, in beta. Adalysis undoes auto-resolve changes. Google's change history can undo most types of changes from the last 30 days.
